What we did this summer

& Last Saturday Club

It’s been a right busy summer! We’ve been taking bikes and the ‘Not Shore’ obstacle course all over - including Heeley Festival, Lowedges, Cliffhanger, Ecclesall & Wheata Woods, Parkwood Springs, York, Bradford and Liverpool. That’s all as well as Last Saturday Club at Greenhill Park and Meersbrook Park. We’ve really enjoyed riding with loads of folks and are looking forward to a last few sessions in half term before the bad weather comes in.

I’d really like to thank Barclays Spaces for Sport and the CTC, amongst others, for continuing to support us to deliver free sessions to the young people of Sheffield.

It's Last Saturday Club at Greenhill and Meersbrook on 24th September, and we hope to see you there. 11:30am Greenhill, 2:30pm Meersbrook.

Make sure you’re on our mailing list to find out about the free events running in half term – email bmx@heeleydevtrust.com for details or to get on the list. On your bikes!

ReCycle Launch Elements

We've launched a new venture this week - Elements: The Sheffield Mountainbike School

We're teaching adults the elements of mountain biking and running guided rides around the Peak.

And, in case anyone needs more videos of playing on bikes, here's more Danny Macaskill. Sure sponsership is doing him well...

It got cold!

Weather's really drawing in now, and the woods are just a bit too wet to ride the mountain bike - difficult to ride and you'll really damage trails riding them now. Best to wait til it gets a bit drier, or freezes. Instead, I've been going out on the BMX to Meersbrook and Millhouses, and the road bike into the Peaks.

Half Term: We had a great time working with folks in Greenhill, Parson Cross and Meersbrook over the school holidays, and looking forward to starting up BMX clubs again in the new year.
It's just too wet and cold at the minute to run the club, as we'd probably have to cancel it.
BUT, you can still ride your bike! Gloves and a beanie hat under your helmet will go a long way.

Sign up to our mailing list at the bottom of the site, if you haven't already.

While it's raining, time to watch some videos of people riding, and to sort your own bike out with a service.

Enjoy:

Please note change of time for Meersbrook Last Saturday Club.

Programme:

Tues 26th: Parson Cross BMX Park

13:00 – 15:00 BMX Park skills and bike games

Weds 27th: Meersbrook Park North Shore

12:00 – 16:00 North Shore obstacle course

Fri 29th: Greenhill Park North Shore

12:00 – 16:00 North Shore obstacle course

Sat 30th: Greenhill Last Sat Club

11:30 – 13:30 BMX park skills and games

Sat 30th: Meersbrook Last Sat Club

Now, video of the month for me is some homegrown talent. Check this out. The video is beautifully shot, features some excellent riding by Tom Kilkoyne. Other than being a bit compressed, seems like a pretty flawless edit...

LSC Cancelled!

I am really sorry to say that, due to staffing problems, we will not be able to run Last Saturday Club this weekend. We will be running the October LSC as the last one of the year, and also will be putting on events in half term.
Sorry to do this to you, we hope it won't happen again.

BMX - Chapeltown and a video:

We were down in Chapeltown at the weekend, working with loads of kids running a best trick and time trial competition at Charlton Brook. Thanks to the Friend of Charlton Brook for asking us to come along, and to all the riders who got involved.
We saw some amazing skills and tricks, reminding me of a video I saw on the tube last week:

Beautifully smooth natural looking riding, and ridiculously good tricks. And one of the best shot bmx videos I've seen in a long time. Check it out! Anyone out there got their own videos?
